Security Cameras & Access Control
Cameras and door access are IT systems. They sit on your network, they run firmware, and installed carelessly they become the easiest way into it.
The problem
The cameras are often the weakest device you own
Cheap recorders ship with default passwords, firmware nobody updates, and a vendor app that expects a port opened straight through the firewall. Put that on the same flat network as your server and you have installed a permanent open door in order to watch the car park.
Our approach
Designed by people who also secure the network
Cameras and access control on their own isolated network segment, no inbound ports opened, credentials changed and managed, firmware maintained, and remote viewing through a secure path rather than a hole in the firewall. Coverage planned for the shots that matter — entrances, tills, docks, gates — at a resolution that produces usable identification rather than a smudge.
What you get
Included as standard
Not an upsell list. These are the things that make the difference between a service you pay for and a service that works.
- Isolated camera network with no route to business systems
- No inbound firewall ports opened for vendor apps
- Default credentials replaced and managed
- Firmware kept current
- Coverage planned for identification, not just presence
- Retention set to match your insurer's requirements
- Door access integrated with staff joiners and leavers
- Secure remote viewing on mobile
How we work
What actually happens
- 1
Walk the site
Identify what genuinely needs covering and at what detail — a licence plate needs far more resolution than a doorway.
- 2
Design
Camera selection, placement, storage sizing for the retention you need, and the network segment they will live on.
- 3
Install
Cabling, mounting, configuration and secure remote access.
- 4
Maintain
Firmware, storage health checks and periodic footage verification.
Technologies
What we build on
Vendor-neutral where it matters. We will tell you when the cheaper option is the right one.
- IP camera systems
- Network video recorders
- Door access control
- PoE switching
- Isolated VLANs
- Secure remote viewing
Questions
Security Cameras questions
Can we view cameras on our phones?
Yes, through a secure path. What we will not do is open a port straight to the recorder, which is how camera systems end up on public search engines for exposed devices.
How long is footage kept?
Whatever you need — commonly 30 days, longer where an insurer or regulator says so. Retention drives storage sizing, so we agree it before quoting.
Can you work with our existing cameras?
Often, if they are standards-based and not too old. Sometimes the honest answer is that the existing kit is the risk and should be replaced.
