Trucking & Logistics

Freight does not pause while the network is fixed. Dispatch is the system the whole operation depends on, and it is usually the least protected thing in the building.

What makes this different

The problems specific to your sector

Not a generic list. These are the things that come up repeatedly in this kind of business.

  • Dispatch cannot be offline, at any hour

Loads move overnight and at weekends. An outage that a nine-to-five business would absorb on Monday costs this one detention charges, missed appointments and drivers idle at a dock.

  • The yard was never wired for coverage

Warehouse steel, tall racking, outdoor gates and a scale house halfway across the property. Consumer access points fail here for physics reasons, not brand reasons.

  • Drivers are on personal phones

ELD apps, dispatch messaging and paperwork photographs, on devices the business does not manage and cannot wipe when a driver leaves for a competitor.

  • Freight fraud arrives by email

Fictitious pickups, double brokering and redirected carrier payments all start with a convincing message. A compromised mailbox in this industry is not an inconvenience; it is somebody else collecting your load.

Compliance

What you are actually required to do

Named obligations rather than the word 'compliance'. If one of these does not apply to you, we will say so.

  • Customer and broker agreements

Shipper contracts increasingly carry data and security clauses that were not there five years ago.

  • Cyber insurance conditions

Cover for fraudulent instruction usually requires specific controls to be in place and evidenced.

Your software

We expect to find these

We work around your line-of-business software rather than asking you to change it, and we deal with the vendor when needed.

  • Transportation management systems
  • ELD platforms
  • Dispatch and load boards
  • EDI integrations
  • Accounting and settlements

Questions

Common questions

Can you support us outside office hours?

Coverage is agreed in the contract rather than assumed, and for an operation running overnight that is a conversation worth having before you sign anything, with anyone. What we will not do is quote you round-the-clock cover and staff it with an answering service.

Can we get reliable WiFi across the yard?

Usually yes, with outdoor-rated access points and a survey done against the actual buildings and racking rather than a floor plan. Steel and stacked freight change coverage in ways nobody predicts from a drawing.
